Safety Supervisor

(Houston, TX)

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in DOT behavioral safety & compliance
  • Knowledgeable on all US DOT regulations and other federal, state and local laws affecting business
  • Ability to maintain flexible work schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Some travel required, especially to our regional offices in Texas
  • CDL Class A driving experience with valid Class A preferred
  • Possess or ability to obtain TWIC card
  • Familiarity with DriveCam and ELD providers preferred
  • Ability to follow and execute on agreed timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • MS Office Suite proficiency
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Live and breathe GTI and Jetco’s Driving 2 Perfection culture, following our core values of safety, candor, accountability, respect and teamwork, and instill this culture in others
  • Serve as field safety supervisor by working in field with our professional drivers to observe and handle safety-related issues, which may include ride-alongs with drivers to observe habits, assess skills and provide training
  • Effectively update, communicate and train on safety policies and procedures with needed changes to all team members
  • Effectively work with all departments as a partner and leader in safety
  • Assist with professional driver orientation and ongoing training - qualifying drivers for equipment, driver training after classroom orientation and remedial training - and work with VP of Safety and operations team when coaching and providing disciplinary action as needed
  • Conduct portions of orientation training for all new hires
  • Complete site hazard assessments, targeting risk mitigation
  • Assist VP of Safety with near-miss communications and awareness
  • Serve as first responder to incident investigations
  • Create and report on RCA (root cause analysis) after all incidents and cargo claims
  • Serve as leader for terminal inspections, including equipment and OSHA inspections
  • Review all Dashcam event videos daily to work with operations on coaching opportunities
  • Assist compliance team by monitoring hours of service via ELD
  • Assist with reviewing Idelic scoring system to implement PDPs (personal development plans)
  • Assist with creation of ongoing safety training content in Luma, our online instructional design and learning platform
  • All other duties as assigned
